The facility offered a distinctive space for designers to showcase their work and was frequently used by community groups, charities, and voluntary organisations.
Initially developed as a temporary structure, TheHub remained in place for over nine years, serving as a vibrant outdoor destination for the community. It provided a platform for local artists and fostered community engagement across the County Down area.
Constructed with a self-supporting, fixed aluminium structure, TheHub measured 20m in length, 10m in width, and 6m in height. The flexible interior could be configured with tables, seating, or staging, accommodating up to 150 people. Its retractable side panels allowed for both open and private events, while the translucent roof maximised natural light.
In early 2023, TheHub was deconstructed to make way for a newly refurbished hotel. However, Ards and North Down Borough Council has expressed interest in relocating and reinstating the facility in the future.
