Extending the opportunities for the students at one of the UK’s top schools tennis academies, the Rocklyn Air Dome provides the facility for year-round play in a consistent playing environment. This maximises the court time, improving the players and the game within Scotland.
The project developed three full-sized tennis courts for the school’s students to improve their performances and also facilitate training for other sports during inclement weather conditions. The courts were specified with a specialised court material (the same playing surface used in the Australian Open) – which will further enhance the proficiency of the students’ future career within the sport.
The project was delivered on time and within budget with assistance of funding by the LTA and the school. This cost-effective option has been a real success with the students and throughout the school alumni. It has further underlined Merchiston's ambitions in sport and demonstrates their commitment to extra-curricular activities.
