The two skin PVC cable air dome at Shotley & benfieldside Tennis club is a permanent addition to the clubs facilities and available to all members and various wider community groups. It is funded in partnership with the LTA and Sport England as part of their ongoing commitment to promote tennis across the UK and Ireland.
Covering one full-size tennis court, the domes features an LED lighting system controlled via phone app and secure entry doors with adjacent plant room, providing an indoor, state of the art training area proven to be instrumental in the clubs award-winning tennis programmes.
Since commission, the club have recorded a significant increase in total income as well as overall club memberships. Along with tennis coaching, the dome is also regularly used for netball, volleyball, archery and social events.
Shotley & Benfieldside Tennis Club were most recently awarded the Durham & Cleveland LTA Club of the Year in 2022 as well as the Community Impact Award – recognising the quality of work the Club, coaches and volunteers have done working in engaging disabled and special needs children from the Derwentside area in tennis and other sporting activities.
